VEINS | COUPEROSE | ROSACEA

In rosacea there are many small dilated skin blood vessels (also called telangiectasias). They are harmless and they are usually located on the cheeks, nose, chin and sometimes on the décolleté. These skin blood vessels dilate due to various causes, such as heredity, alcohol consumption, certain medication, excessive sun exposure, smoking, temperature fluctuations (for example, during a sauna visit and in winter when it freezes).

Rosacea is a disorder that leads to reddish and slightly swollen skin, especially around the nose and cheeks. Dilated skin blood vessels (telangiectasias) are visible, red bumps and pimples. These pimples make rosacea look a bit like acne. The cause is not known, but there are many things that make it worse: alcohol and certain foods, some (vasodilator) medicines, hypersensitivity to skin care products, stress, hormones, for example.

A spider nevus is a local dilation of a skin blood vessel. It looks like a small red dot with small outgrowths (like a spider). A spider is harmless and can sometimes disappear on its own. If you don't want to wait for that, go to the skin therapist.

Besenreiser's varices are small, dilated blood vessels that occur on the legs and feet. These vessels are not varicose veins, as varicose veins lie deeper and are much wider. The leg vessels occur in about a third of adults. Dilated vessels on the legs occur because the wall of the vessels is weakened. The body has to pump the blood back from the legs to the heart, but gravity makes it more difficult for the blood to flow back. As one gets older, the body has more difficulty draining the blood and the vessels will dilate.

A cherry angioma is a small bright red bump. These can lie flat or slightly more elevated on the skin. Size may vary. The color can also vary from bright red to sometimes even purple / black. The spots are completely harmless, but can of course be cosmetically disturbing.
